Training

Below are some optional pre-Vegas "training" ideas (some are serious suggestions!):

  • Deprive yourself of sleep. Get your body used to not sleeping for long periods of time (Those who live with young children need not apply!)
  • Alternative tactic: get more sleep than usual to ensure fully rested for the trip (?)
  • Practice putting in the dark down your stairs (for the night-crazy-golf tournament)
  • Playing more (at least some) online poker.
  • Reading poker books (related to live poker like "200 poker tells" by Joe Navaro)
  • Learn the rules of some table games. Craps, Pai Gow, Bacarat, Three Card Poker
  • Catch up with the latest dance choons so you know what you are listening too! (maybe not as extreme as the weekly Tiesto podcast, this is a bit too hardcore - but at least current chart dance stuff.)
  • Diet a little (as fried chicken & burgers every day WILL take it's toll)
  • Oil up the ol' liver with a few drinks involving pineapples, green stuff, Toms and some Collins (whatever they are!)
  • Take afternoon naps to get used to a power snooze schedule
  • Set some money on fire to get used to devaluing it psychologically

(I remember training for Wizbongre's stag do which involved canyonning in ice cold Scottish lochs by taking ice cold showers for a week before work to get used to the body shock! [not advised])
