ESTA fun

I've just gone through the fun of completing my ESTA application for entry into the US.

No, I don't plan on engaging in criminal or terrorist behaviour, honest Guv. Really don't understand why such pointless questions are asked - logic would say that if someone were planning to commit something a little shady, the last thing they would do is acknowledge that on a visa application.

Anyway, got this response:-

Authorization Pending

Your travel authorization is under review because an immediate determination could not be made for your application. This response does not indicate negative findings. A determination will be available within 72 hours. Please return to this Web site and choose Update or Check the Status of a Previously Submitted Authorization to Travel to the United States. Your application number, passport number, and birth date will be required to check the status of your application.

Not sure if I should be worried...

  2. I got the same thing. I went back to check again 5 days later and copied and pasted my application number that I'd saved into the relevant box and gave my other details.

The site then said it couldn't find my application - that it had no record of it basically, even though I'd already been charged on my Credit Card. It said I would have to apply again.

Anyway, after some moments of panic, I tried not copying and pasting and I finally saw that it had been approved, although of course they can still stop you from entering at PP control - so Gareth, don't say you've come to Vegas for some "Non-Gambling Fun" - highly suspicious...

  3. So are we officially boarding at Glasgow or Manchester?

  4. Manchester.

I don't think we get off the plane at Glasgow on the outbound leg, but we do on the inbound leg from what I can gather from the awful description on the ticket.

  5. Again, all of the boarding stuff was optional so I left it blank. Probably why I'm waiting for the approval!

  6. I just put MGM Grand, Las Vegas as the address on mine. Do you think I need more detail?
