It's less than 2 months before we head to Vegas on my unofficial stag do.
This blog has been set up with the intention of tracking what we get up to during the lead up and whilst we are there.
So many things happened during the last two times that I can hardly remember any of it now. Therefore, the main reason for this is to serve as my digital memory and I think everyone who is going might also appreciate it when they want to look back on what happened. (Plus, this is what geeks do, get over it!)
I am planning to do regular(ish) updates from my phone, however, typing on my phone will be slow (probably from a poker table!), so the detail may be kept to a minimum and contain the occasional uploaded photo. If I get the general gist of what happened whilst we are there I could then try and fill in the gaps when I get home.
With the intention of this being family friendly, my initial thought is that the blog will be kept clean (and denominations of $ lost will be censored!). Wives/ families can then see how we are progressing (if you want them to).
Catch Up..
The story so far is that there are 5 of us that fly out on 30th March and return (land in UK) on 7th April.
Hotels are yet to be booked, we are still looking for a late bargain but the intention is to stay in two or three hotels to give everyone a flavour of different parts of the strip (and to change our base poker room from time to time). We did this last time and it worked really well.
Not the best of starts..
The plane tickets were touted as "Direct Flights". A week after purchase, I received a letter (why wasn’t it an email?!) saying that it will go via Glasgow which added on a couple of hours to the flight time each way. The letter said that we wouldn’t have to disembark.
I then received a second letter saying that due to new government regulations, we do have to disembark and our baggage also to be rescreened. After a couple of waste of time phone calls with FlyThomasCook.com, I found out that the flights are still classed as "direct" simply because they have the same flight number! Therefore, no leverage for a refund/discount.
Next up..
The hunt for hotel combinations & bargains, check out poker tournament schedules and ultra-lounge/club timetables. Also, we are still working on getting a sixth member to join us.
Does the rest of the party get to have editorial access, or is the final decision on content here falling to the stag, in the interests of embarrassment avoidance?! ;)
ReplyDeleteAll are welcome to have editorial access, that is what I hoped. Once you have set up a blogger or gmail account I can invite you.
